This island is surrounded by the beautifully colored Caribbean Sea and gorgeous sugar white beaches. It is said that if you spend a full year on this island, you could go to a different beach every day! You will see circular sugar mills which dot the landscape, Nelson's Dockyard, once a strategic base for the British navy during Napoleon's time, and now a bustling harbour which welcomes ocean going yachts. St. John's is charming, with cobblestone sidewalks and weather-beaten wooden houses with corrugated iron roofs and louvered Caribbean verandas. Trade winds keep the island cool.
